Is This Thing On?

Welcome! I’m excited to share my experience as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal through this blog. I feel a bit embarrassed making my writing public, but my hope is that sharing with an audience beyond myself will force me to rethink and improve the quality of my writing. I’m happy to have you with me as I undertake this journey!

A note on the title Here I Yam: yes, it’s a really horrible pun but also an important reminder to myself to stay engaged with the present despite any hardships. Here I Am. Here I Am. Here I Am. As for altering am to yam: Prithvi Narayan Shah, the founder of the modern Nepalese state, described Nepal as a “yam between two rocks” due to its geopolitical position between China and India.
